The star rating standard is internationally recognized for quality accomodation standard. In Malaysia, the hotel rating is set and assessed by the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, based on several criteria namely aesthetic requirement, common areas, bedroom, services, safety and hygiene standard as well as the staffs. While 5 star rating hotels represents  high-end,  luxurious accommodation, 1-star offers basic amenities to accommodate those  with modest needs.
